Dina Taschler:
Dina is a full-time, self-taught artist, who was born and grew up
overseas.  In 1987, she attended university in Washington, D.C.,
where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in political science and a
Master’s degree in Arab studies from Georgetown University.  She
then attended the University of Chicago for a Ph.D. in political
science and completed everything but the doctoral dissertation.

Moving west to California and Arizona with her husband led to the fortuitous discovery of a whole new
world of art that derives its inspiration from the western landscape, light and indigenous architecture.
Through her painting, Dina aims to portray the nuances of the West’s wonderful vastness and diversity,
and not merely to render exact representations of its scenery. Painting allows for the creative sharing of
beauty, both latent and patent.  Through her art, she tries to evoke emotional and analytical responses
that reinforce commonalities among peoples such as humbleness before nature, appreciation of beauty
in the simple and fundamental things, recognition of similarities, and treasuring of all that makes the
West so unique.  By visually narrating the magnetism, variety, and sheer power inherent in the West and
Southwest, she attempts to contribute to human receptivity of beauty.

Dina’s style of painting is representational and primarily focuses on powerful scenes with vibrant color.
She has been painting for the past eight years and selling some of her work privately.  She is a
Supporting Member of the American Women Artists and has participated in several Juried exhibitions,
including “Celebration” at K.D. Moore Gallery in Colorado (2005), the “Central Coast National Fine Art
Competition” in Morro Bay, California (2005 &2006), the Juried Show 2006 at Assunta Fox Art Gallery in
Santa Ana, California, the Showcase Gallery of the Orange County Fine Arts (2006), and  the "Lines into
Shapes" fine art show at the Art Center of Estes Park, Colorado in Fall 2006.
