Jolene Gailey:

"To be able to balance the enchanting beauty of realism with the
powerful poetic expression of the abstract is the goal of my art.  In order
for an apparently casual brushstroke to speak the truth, the artist needs
intimate knowledge of realistic nuance.

*It is all done with smoke and mirrors*.

Seriously though, to transform three dimensions onto two dimensions, to
then evoke a response from the viewer from the sixth dimension, is a
captivating and endlessly exciting challenge."

Jolene Gailey sought a Bachelor of Arts at Brigham Young University
with an emphasis in sculpture and created several fine bronzes with the
horse and figure.  "I did a lot of work with anatomy, both in two
dimensions (drawing) and in three dimensions (sculpture)."  She later
went on to the University of Utah for a Bachelors of Fine Art
emphasizing drawing and painting.  She has studied with many
accomplished teachers including Wolfe Barsh, abstract;
Frank Covino, portraiture; Paul Davis, figure; Dan Mieduch, color
harmony; Don Ward, plein air landscape; and William Whitaker, figure.

Horses have always been a powerful totem of movement, grace, and the
beauty of pure responsiveness.  And Indians have come forth as an
image to explore, not to get every last detail correct, but to feel the
strength of the human connection to the earth, to nature, and to the
spirit.  *There have been times when I have felt the beating of the drums
within my chest (while in meditation).*  Says Jolene "I have had a lot of
life experiences in maintaining body and soul together, now it is time for
the spirit to come forth."

Keep abreast of Jolene's work at Verano Fine Art Gallery in Bisbee for
