After receiving my BFA at the University of Arizona and
painting for 12 years, I find that I get my greatest rewards as a
plein air artist. There is an energy and freshness in painting
from life that I enjoy.
The Southwest is a natural habitat for the nature lover and is
conducive to many outdoor painting opportunities. With the
year-round glow of the sunlight and the warmth of the shadows
reflected against the mountain ranges, it is the perfect place for
me to express the truth of what the artist sees outside in natural
light and life as I let my love of nature flow onto the canvas
through each brush stroke. The ever-changing light and desert
floor is a challenge I welcome.
It is my hope that the viewer can feel the mood of the setting
and the sense of what I was feeling as I translated the scenery
onto canvas.
